Description of role : Position is part of the internal IT organization of one of the world’s largest telecommunication companies. The new Center of Excellence is launched in accordance with the company's global strategy to balance operations between US, EMEA, APAC.
Responsible for the administration of over 30000 Unix servers based in the US, performing activities during EMEA working hours in “follow the sun” pattern with other geographies. Occasional weekend support in EMEA hours is to be expected in a reliable pre-scheduled pattern.

Principle Responsibilities /Duties : • Incident and change management • Patching and Upgrading O/S Operating System Software • Installation and Configuration of Software • Building and Extending File Systems • User Administration and Support • Security Administration and Tools • Performance Tuning • Troubleshooting/Problem Resolution • System Maintenance • Networking • Kernel Configuration • HA Cluster Support and Configuration • Hardware Configurations, Replacements, Upgrades and Migrations • Hardware Break Fix • Server acceptance/decommissioning • Outage resolution • Chance to participate in project works Required • Operating System knowledge (UNIX) • Server & system Administration • System Support and Trouble analysis • Technical Documentation /Implementation tools • Storage – Volume management, file systems • Basic Clustering concepts • Strong problem solving skills • Independent worker, yet able to work as a team where necessary.
Desired: • Change Management principles • Configuration/ Back-up / Restoral processes • Hardware installation • Network design • Script and query development • Storage (SAN, Network Attached) • Storage Support tools • Virtualization • Good communication skills with all levels of management • Good leadership skills.
Desired Background of Candidate: • High School education (or equivalent) or higher • 7-10 years of UNIX System Administration Experience • First level vendor certification desired.
