here is a BIOS setting called CMOS VID Setting. I have done some research on the internet and found out that this is a parameter for a DC-DC voltage converter feeding the CPU. It determines the maximum output voltage possible (As far as I understood).
 
The default setting is 62 = 111110 and according to the Intel specification called VRM 9.0 DC-DC Converter Design Guidelines (available developer.intel.com <http://developer.intel.com> ) this means that the Voltage Regulator Module should disable its output. Obviously this is not what happens since the CPU keeps running when the VID is set to 1
 
The import bit here is that the CPU became much more stable when I set the VID to 1 and I am currently also running with VCore + 0.1 V enabled since the CPU still froze after 2 days running straight. I have increased the VCore voltage to see if this will keep the CPU running stable permanently.
