l'écran est mal configuré probablement j'avais le même pb regarde les réglages adaptés à ton écran dans la notice

g eu le probleme avec ma deb, meme avec xf86cfg ca foirait... g finalement pris un le XF86Config-4 de kkun d'autre, ke g adapté a mon ecran, et rulez... je c tjs pas pkoi le mien foirait... recherche un de mes anciens topic, ca t'en dira peut etre plus

ce ki est bizarre c ke qd je fais xf86cfg, c une config en mode graphique, donc la il le trouve bien l'ecran !!! enfin bref, ca menerve... je l'ai reconfiguré avec xf86config et evidement c tjrs pareil....

le mien aussi semblait bien configuré figure toi... c pas la premiere fois ke je le fais...
n'empeche que ca marchait pas et ca a marché avec un autre adapté correctement

lance xf86cfg en mode texte (-textmode je crois faut vérifier sinon) chez moi en mode graphique ça ne marchai pas et en mode texte ct bon

pas tout a fait: g pas trouver pkoi le mien foirait, ms avec l'autre ca marchait, alors g laisser l'autre... ( le mien etait fait avec xf86config)

j'ai exactement le même problème ...
en installant la debian woody , je rentre directement en mode console et lorsque je tape startx, le message "screen not found"
m'est retourné ...
je refais un dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 -> même problème.
j'ai essayé un apt-get remove --purge xserver-xfree86 puis apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xfree86 mais rien n'y fait ... toujours le même message d'erreur
Avec xf86config, le problème subsiste ...
j'ai essayé de prendre le X86Config posté dans le topic de leirn, mais cela ne change rien
ma CG est une Leadtek WinFast GeForce3 TD ...

voila, j'ai modifié
- nvidia en nv
- les fréquences H et V que je connais de mon écran
- j'ai commenté la 2ème souris
Mais cela ne change rien.
EDIT:La ou je galère un peu est pour la config de ma carte graphique ... une geforce 3 (pas les TI200 ni les TI500) ... je ne la voit pas dans les propositions.
Par contre je n'ai pas non plus la souris qui fonctionne (mais je pense qu'elle n'est pas active avant le chargement de startx), donc c'est normal,ça .

quand je lance xf86config on peut accéder à une liste de carte graphique afin de choisir la bonne, et là je ne vois pas ma carte.

'nv' c'est le driver générique d'XFree.
'nvidia' si tu installe les drivers nvidia.
La Woody a XFree4.1.x donc pas de pb, tu dois avoir le fichier suivant :
/etc/X11/XF86config-4
Le fichier de log /var/log/XFree.log.0 te dira exactement ce qu'il se passe.

Visiblement ton fichier de conf d'XFree n'a pas l'air d'être correcte.
XFree charge des modules non utiles :
- dri
- drm
Puis, après chargement du driver 'nv' XFree charge 'fbdevhw' bref du framebuffer.
Dernière ligne intéréssante, XFree trouve ta carte et ton écran mais n'a pas
de configuration correcte.
Je te conseille d'installer les drivers 'nvidia' et de modifier le fichier de conf en
t'inspirant du mien, cela devrait t'aider.

pour les drivers nvidia , je vais sur le site et je prends les GLX et le KERNEL c est bien ca ?

Tu peux chopper les src.deb via apt-get (jamais fait).
Perso, je récupère les tarballs et compile à la mano.
Il te faudras les sources de ton noyau.
Si tu veux pas t'ennuyer :
apt-get install nvidia-kernel-src nvidia-glx-src
Tu suis la procédure.

salut,
g installé debian recement (enfin installer est un bien gd mot), mais lorsque je tape startx, g une erreur : "screen not found"
ou plus exactemnet, a un endroit c ecrit screen found, but "aucun ne correspond " ou un truc ds le genre, j'men souviens plus exactly
donc je pense ke c paske g pas rentré exactemnet les bonne valeurs pour mon ecran, nan? masi le pb c ke je les ai pas sous la main... mais je pensais ke c t pa grave, puiske lors de l'install a un moment on choisi entre facil, moyen, avancé, et ds les 2 premiers il demande pas les taux de rafraichiessement vertical et horiz, donc il devrait bien s'en passer, en mettant d valeurs "par defaut", nan?
je sais pas si vous m'avez suivi mais en gros j'aimerai bien ne plus avoir cette erreur "screen not found"
