J'utilise une red hat 7.2 dont je viens de faire une up2date général (avec
le programme up2date).
J'ai aussi updaté les rpm Xfree86, version 4.1.0-15
 
quand je reboote: impossible de restarté X, je me logge en root je tappe

avant tu etais sous XFree 3.x.x ?    
   
En tout cas il faut a mon avis que tu configures XFree (en tout cas si tu avais XFree 3.x.x avant c'est sur)...utilises xf86config ou autre
