XFree 4 et Framebuffer: "No screen found" - Linux et OS Alternatifs

J'essaie en vain de faire tourner X en Framebuffer sur une mdk 9.0 avec un chipset graphique Intel 845GL car celui-ci n'est pas encore supporte.
Le serveur X refuse de demarrer et j'obtient a chaque fois le message suivant:

le mode VESA avec DrakeX ne fonctionne pas non plus, seul le mode VGA demarre mais est affreusement buggee...
