Debian + Mezzo Desktop = Symphony OS : votre avis ? - Logiciels - Linux et OS Alternatifs

Symphony OS is a Desktop computer operating system based on Debian GNU/Linux and Knoppix GNU/Linux. Rather than using the KDE or Gnome Desktop environments as most Linux distributions do, the Symphony OS team has created the revolutionary Mezzo Desktop environment
The Symphony OS Project is an Open Source project, not controlled by any business entity, operated by Ryan Quinn and Jason Spisak. In the future we hope to form a non-profit Symphony OS Foundation to further our development goals.
Features
GNU/Linux Based...
Symphony OS takes advantage of the reliability, speed and rock solid nature of GNU/Linux to make your computer faster and more secure.
Web 2.0...
The new breed of web based applications like Gmail and Flickr, commonly referred to as "Web 2.0" applications are changing the way people manage their files and data. Symphony OS makes it easier than ever to use these new applications in your everyday computer needs while still having programs that are integrated with your computer.
Your Desktop, Your Homepage.
Because Symphony OS is built using web technologies your desktop can truly come alive with news, weather, sports, web search, and much more.
Web Developers Dream
Symphony OS' web technologies also make it easier than ever to develop graphical applications. Anyone who can develop web-based tools can develop them for Symphony OS.
All your Media
We are working to make Symphony OS compatible with all major multimedia file format so you can play and organize your media files easily.
Great Applications
Symphony OS not only lets you run great web-2.0 applications as if they were standard programs, it also has all the applications you could need for home or office. No need to go to a store or spend a lot of money to have the best applications. Symphony OS also comes with the OneClick software store.. but unlike most stores, in this one everything is FREE.

Mezzo is the revolutionary desktop system built for Symphony. Based on the concept by Jason Spisak this system simplifies and organizes the desktop environment in such a way that practically anyone can feel comfortable using it.
Mezzo disposes of standard concepts like "The desktop is a folder" and nasty nested menu systems that are hard to navigate and harder to manage and instead presents all needed information directly to the user via the main desktop and four desk targets for tasks and files related to System, Programs, Files, and Trash.

Orchestra is Symphony's application environment. This set of programs and tools allows programs composed of just HTML and Perl to run as local GUI apps. Anyone who writes Perl CGI scripts will feel at home writing Orchestra applications. Orchestra will be used extensively in the Symphony OS.
Orchestra is made up of two main parts, a localhost only http server and a slimmed down mozilla renderer. Becuase mozilla is used as the base for rendering Orchestra apps can utilize the following technologies:
* Javascript/DHTML
* Perl/CGI
* Java Applets (when plugin is included)
* Flash (when plugin is included)
* Embeded media players (when plugin is included)
* XUL Interfaces
* Any other technologies for which a Mozilla Plugin is available.
Eventually support is planned for the following technologies
* PHP
* Python
* Bash Shell Scripts as CGI's
* Compiled CGI scripts
* SVG Graphics (when support is compiled with the mozilla renderer)
