Je fais une recherche pour acquérir un boitier type disque dur multimédia. J'ai trouvé divers modèles qui paraissent intéressants dont ce boitier EVA9150....pas très courtisé, pour ne pas dire ignoré, sur le forum
Je me suis dit que j'allais faire un petit topic dessus. C'est parti. Patience, je l'améliorerai au fur-et-à-mesure. Si vous avez des idées, des infos, n'hésitez pas à me l'indiquer, j'intégrerai ce qui sera intéressant.
 
NB: existe aussi la EVA9000: la même chose sans disque dur (mais sauf erreur avec néanmoins un RAC permettant de mettre un disque si on le souhaite. Là encore a priori: introuvable en France.

What do the various LED states mean?
 
Red steady - Unit in "Passive Standby" - can be "turned on with remote" but requires 60+/- seconds to boot up. The EVA does not respond to network commands, but will self-power-on to perform background tasks as needed. In this mode the EVA is drawing less than .3 watts.
 
Orange steady - Unit is "Active Standby" - fully operational, but the hard drive and USB ports are powered down and the CPU in low power state. The EVA can respond to network commands and comes to full power mode in 5 - 10 seconds.
 
Orange blinking - Unit is booting up / going from passive to active standby.
 
Blue - Unit is in full power mode.
 
What kind of hard drive can I add?
 
Any SATA hard drive should work. If you have one available, please test and let us know the model number (shown on screen in the Hard drive info screen)
 
How do I set up the Hard Drive?
 
Install the hard drive with the unit powered off; power on; use the Hard Drive Tools menu to format the drive. Be sure to copy off any files on the drive first as the EVA requires that the drive be formatted by the EVA tools. The resulting drive is in Linux ext-3 format with some EVA specific structure on the drive. Once the drive has been formatted you can mount it on any Linux system, or on a Windows system with ext-3 file system drivers.
 
How do I get files onto the hard drive?
 
You can copy files from a USB drive using the Hard Drive Tools menu. Also, the Media and EVAData directories will show up as shared drives which you can copy to/from. Files which you copy to the hard drive should show up in the media list when they are done copying, however this feature is not yet fully functional.
 
Can I use the EVA as a NAS?
 
We do not support the EVA as a NAS. You'll find the EVA's server performance is not up to par with actual NAS devices. The hard drive option is provided for the following purposes:
 
   1. Local/offline storage
   2. Pre-buffering & progressive downloads for wireless and on-line files
   3. Local storage for preferences and settings
   4. Local "recording" of on-line content
 
Can I "hot plug" the EVA9000 Hard Drive?
 
No. Please power off fully by shutting off the rear panel switch before installing or removing a hard drive. The hard drive will not be damaged if you remove it with the EVA powered up, but the EVA will not recognize any hard drive which is installed after initial power-on.
 
On the EVA9000, what are the limitations to the devices that can be recognized by the USB connector?
 
The USB connection only works with USB Storage devices that DO NOT have an internal USB hub. The file formats recognized are FAT, FAT32, NTFS, MacOS X (HFS+, not older HFS), and ext2/3 formatted drives.
 
Can the EVA9000 user interface be modified (changing skins etc.)?
 
Yes. 2 skins are included by default, and others can be added to the data save location and loaded onto the EVA.
 
Are there any limitations to the number of source servers that I can draw files from?
 
As long as all of the media servers/shares are on the same subnet there should not be a limit. (Note: The more shares available the longer the scanning time for file updates) At present we have tested with over 40 servers/shares.
 
Is it possible for the EVA9000 to access media files that are stored on a NAS (such as SC101T or other) on the network?
 
Yes, the EVA9000 can access NAS devices directly. (Note: The SC101 is not a NAS it is a SAN, and requires specialized drivers which the EVA9000 does not have at this point. So to access an SC101T you must share this drive from a PC or Mac which has SC101T drivers.)
 
Is there any way to use a keyboard with the EVA9000 to enter text for web surfing?
 
You may attach a USB keyboard and mouse. At this time only US English layout is supported.
 
What are the current video formats the EVA9000 supports?
 
Currently the EVA9000 supports the following container formats: AVI, DivX, Xvid WMV, MOV, VOB, MPG, MP1, MP2, MP4, ISO, IFO, M4V, TS, M2TS, MKV, MKA
 
What online content does the EVA9000 currently supported?
 
Current online sources are internet radio, YouTube and Flickr and RSS based Audio and Video podcasts.
 
On the EVA9000, is there cover art support for both Video and Audio files? What about text descriptions for the files and how are they presented in the user interface?
 
Yes cover art and descriptions are available and we provide a tool to modify/add cover art which works with .mpg (ID3), .avi, .wmv, .mp4, .mov, wma, flac, mkv and a few other container / tag formats. For containers without native tag support a separate .TAG file can be created which contains an ID3 format tag for the corresponding file.
 
What scaling capabilities does the EVA9000 have?
 
Any video is scaled to the default for your display (whatever you set it to). The aspect ratio is changeable on the fly (hit zoom key), and you can zoom in/out on the video itself with Pg+/- and pan using the arrow keys.
 
What video CODECs does the EVA9000 supports?
 
MP1/2/4, Xvid, VC-1/WMV-9, H.264, OpenDivX all to 1080p
 
Does the EVA9000 support WEP Shared-Key Authentication?
 
No, currently the EVA doesn't support WEP Shared-Key Authentication so you will need to choose Open System Authentication when using WEP.
 
Whenever I play videos from the EVA9000 to my TV I hear a low buzz or hiss from the TV speakers, what causes this and how can I fix it?
 
One possible cause is the TV and the EVA9000 are on two different ground planes, which can cause the hissing sound through the speakers. To correct this purchase a power strip with a surge suppressor and plug both the TV and the EVA9000 into this strip. Both devices will now be using the same ground plane and the hissing or buzzing should go away.
 
How do I move the EVA9000 data save location?
 
The EVA9000 uses the internal hard drive, a network share or USB drive to store some of its settings. This location is user definable and is normally configured during setup. This location can be changed to a different location at any time by choosing the following from the Home menu: More > Supervisor functions > Advanced settings > Media library management > Data save location.
 
After changing this location copy all the data from the original location into the new location. Reboot the unit.
 
Why is there a discrepancy between elapsed time and the given duration of a song when looking at MP3 audio files?
 
When browsing a song, the UI shows a different length compared to what is shown on the Now Playing screen. This is due to the audio browser showing the song length that was read from the audio file's ID3 tag data. The Now Playing screen actually calculates the duration of the song.
 
Why do some internet radio stations only play audio through the stereo outputs and not the digital outputs?
 
Many audio receivers do not support digital audio below 96Kbps, so the workaround is for the user to connect the analog audio outputs of the EVA9000 to the analog inputs of their receiver. Switch the audio receiver to this input when listening to low bitrate audio.

J'envisage l'achat de la petite soeur de la 9150, la 9100.  
 
Dans le mode d'emplois sur le site Netgear il est fait mention d'un outils à installer sur les pc pour partager des dossiers.  
 
Est-ce que l'installation/ l'utilisation de ce soft est obligatoire ? Ou est ce que la 9100 est capable d'aller lire sur un partage windows ?

Désolé du délai, je passe rarement par ici
 
Sur la 9150 pas besoin du soft. la 9100 étant a priori seulement une 9150 sans wifi ni disque dur, le soft ne sera donc a priori pas nécessaire.
